I'm a foodie and a tech lover - intensively researched Typhur, Meater and Combustion Inc before settling on Typhur mostly on price.
The supposed drawbacks (thicker probe, less advanced software) are non-existent. Pairing was a bliss. It just works perfectly. The unexpected benefit is tracking carry-over temperature (after cooking), which I suppose has ruined more than a steak and is now completely eliminated.
